Indoxacarb is a pro-insecticide. It's not directly toxic on its own, the pest's own body converts it into the active poison after ingestion, which is part of why it's so selective for the pests it targets. Once activated, it blocks sodium channels in the nerve cells, and the insect stops feeding and becomes paralysed.

Emamectin benzoate works differently, opening glutamate-gated chloride channels so the nerve and muscle cells stop firing correctly. Between the two, feeding stops fast, usually within hours, and death follows over the next one to two days. Both move into the leaf, so caterpillars and leafminers feeding just under the surface are still exposed even without direct spray contact.

Time this at early larval stages, small caterpillars are far easier to stop than large ones that have already bored into the crop. Indoxacarb is IRAC group 22A and emamectin benzoate is group 6, so this combination already covers two modes of action in one product, which helps slow resistance on its own.

Still, don't run it back to back through the whole season. Alternate with a product from a different group, like a diamide or a spinosyn, once you've used this for one or two generations.

Emamectin benzoate carries real toxicity to bees and aquatic life, so don't spray while the crop is flowering or pollinators are active, and keep well clear of ponds, streams, or irrigation channels during mixing and application. Wear chemical-resistant gloves and eye protection when handling the concentrate.

Store in the original container, away from direct sunlight, children, food, and livestock.
