AFRINOVA 400 SC

AFRINOVA 400 SC is a premium, next-generation systemic insecticide developed specifically for persistent and hard-to-control sucking pests, particularly in perennial crops, greenhouse production, and high-value horticulture. The product is engineered for long-term plant protection, rather than short-lived suppression.

Its defining strength lies in its true systemic behavior, allowing protection of both treated foliage and newly emerging growth, making it ideal for crops with continuous flushing such as citrus, avocado, coffee, tomatoes, and ornamentals.

Flonicamid works on the insect's feeding behaviour rather than its nervous system directly, treated aphids and whiteflies stop feeding almost immediately, essentially starving, without the twitching or convulsing you'd see from a nerve poison. Spirotetramat takes a slower route, it blocks fat production inside the pest's body, which mainly affects immature stages and reproduction rather than killing adults outright.

Between the two, you get a fast feeding-stop plus a slower, longer-term suppression of the population building back up.

Recommended rate: 8–10 ml per 20 litres of water, or 250–350 ml per hectare

Don't expect visible dead insects quickly from the spirotetramat side of this product, its value shows up over the following one to two weeks as fewer nymphs survive to adulthood. Both actives move through the plant, so it protects new growth as it emerges, which matters for a crop with an extended flush period.

Neither active is a nerve poison, so it fits well as a resistance-rotation partner alongside pyrethroids or neonicotinoids rather than repeating the same mode of action every spray.

Relatively low acute toxicity to bees compared to broad-spectrum insecticides, but avoid spraying during active bloom as standard precaution. Wear gloves and eye protection when handling.

Store in the original container away from direct sunlight, children, food, and livestock.
