IMAGUARD 500 EC is a specialized post-harvest fungicide formulated to protect fruits and vegetables from storage and transport losses caused by fungal pathogens, particularly Penicillium spp., Botrytis, and other latent infections. Its active ingredient, Imazalil, penetrates the fruit rind and suppresses latent infections that are not visible at harvest, ensuring extended shelf-life, improved marketability, and reduced post-harvest losses.
It is particularly suitable for citrus, apples, mangoes, bananas, and other high-value fruits where maintaining visual quality, firmness, and consumer acceptance is critical during storage, transport, and distribution.

After spray dries
Imazalil works the same way as other FRAC group 3 fungicides, blocking ergosterol production in the fungal cell membrane, but it's used differently here: as a post-harvest dip rather than a field spray.
Because it's applied after harvest, it needs genuine curative strength, stopping infections like grey mold that are already present or just beginning on the fruit surface during storage and transport, not just preventing new ones.
Recommended rate: 0.5–1.0 ml per litre dip solution
| Crop | Target | Timing | Max |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apple | Botrytis (grey mold) | Curative | 3 |
| Banana | Botrytis (grey mold) | Curative | 3 |
This is a post-harvest treatment, applied as a dip solution rather than sprayed in the field, so it fits at the packhouse stage of the program, not during crop growth.
Because it's FRAC group 3, don't treat every batch with the same product exclusively if resistant Penicillium or Botrytis strains are a known issue in your storage facility, alternating dip chemistries over time helps keep this option effective.
Wear chemical-resistant gloves and eye protection when preparing dip solutions, and ensure adequate ventilation in packhouse areas during use. Store in the original container away from direct sunlight, children, food, and livestock.
Registered for use on labelled crops across East African markets, under the relevant national regulatory authority. Always read and follow the approved product label before use.
