MONTECALO 220 SC is a modern, selective insecticide specifically developed to manage lepidopteran larvae that have developed resistance to conventional pyrethroids and organophosphates. It is formulated to act primarily as a feeding-suppression product, reducing leaf and fruit damage immediately upon ingestion, even before mortality occurs.
The product’s high selectivity allows for targeted action against caterpillars while minimizing impacts on beneficial insects, making it suitable for vegetables, legumes, cotton, and fruit crops.

Metaflumizone blocks sodium channels in the pest's nerve cells, similar in concept to indoxacarb but chemically distinct, so it's classified in its own IRAC subgroup rather than treated as the same mode of action. Once exposed, affected larvae stop feeding and go into a relaxed paralysis rather than violent convulsions, and death follows over the following day or two.
It works through both contact and ingestion.
Recommended rate: 8–10 ml per 20 litres of water, or 250–300 ml per hectare
| Crop | Target | Timing | Max |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cabbage | African bollworm & Fall armyworm | At larva stage | 3 |
| Cotton | African bollworm & Fall armyworm | At larva stage | 3 |
Best applied while larvae are still small, this product works well as an early-instar treatment rather than a rescue spray on advanced infestations. Because it shares a broad mechanism family with indoxacarb (IRAC group 22), don't rotate between the two as if they were different modes of action, treat this product's group as needing its own genuine rotation partner from outside group 22.
Wear chemical-resistant gloves and eye protection when handling the concentrate. Avoid application during flowering periods when pollinators are active.
Store in the original container away from direct sunlight, children, food, and livestock.
Registered for use on labelled crops across East African markets, under the relevant national regulatory authority. Always read and follow the approved product label before use.
